Appalachain Trail – Northbound
13 02 2011Early October I realized hiking the New England 67 4000 footers was within reach. I was about halfway done. I hiked every weekend since. This is from Old Speck in ME.

Sunset on Mount Adams
14 08 2010Last week I completed my longest, hardest hike yet, covering all of the presidential ridge. It was about 22 miles and 10,000 feet of elevation gain. It was a spectacular weekend, and on the first night I was able to capture some really great sunset photos.

Galehead
31 05 2010I just got back from a 3 day weekend at Galehead hut, the 2nd highest of the AMC hut’s. It was fantastic, I was able to get to 5 4000 footers! This is my favorite shot of the weekend. If you have never been to Bondcliff Mountain, I sugest you do so!

Sunrise
25 04 2010DROCK and I woke up @ 3:00AM to hike the 1.8 miles to Mount Avalon summit for photos of sunrise. Hiking in the dark adds a whole new element to the white mountain, and I very much enjoyed it. Hiking like that intensifies the challenge. It was a great day. And congrats to DROCK for his first 4000 footer!

The judges caption: Vermont hiking on New Year’s day. He doesn’t need to talk, his eyes are saying everything.

Reflection
7 02 2010I went hiking in New Hampshire this weekend, this is one of my favorites from a 3 summit hike. The views were incredible, I sat atop Mt. Avalon for a while, enjoying the surrounding views of Crawford Notch. I love hiking.

Self
17 01 2010I’ve been doing smaller hikes lately because of an injury, but I am feeling better, and ready to start preparing for the great adventure awaiting in March. This weekend DS and I found our way down to Richmond, RI. We did a quick 5 miles hike around Long Pond and Ell Pond. If you haven’t been there before, I suggest you look it up, it’s quite the hidden gem in this small state, and has some really fun opportunities for rock climbing, and nice views above the lake. We hung out for a bit on top of a big rock formation, tried out the new stove, and had some hot coffee. I’m really looking forward to using the stove on some hikes soon!
